Fine & Uncommon Books
Second Revision is a carefully curated bookstore devoted to books with presence — volumes that matter for their ideas, histories, associations, and survival. The collection focuses on uncommon, collectible, and culturally resonant works, with particular strength in literature, counterculture, women’s history, science, medicine, and the printed record of human curiosity.
Every book is offered with attention to its physical condition, its intellectual context, and its place in the longer life of books.
Books do not end their lives when they leave print. Many become more legible over time, shaped by use, by changing contexts, and by the questions readers continue to bring to them.
Second Revision exists for that second life. The collection reflects an interest in books not only as texts, but as artifacts—objects that carry ideas, material evidence, and traces of having been read. Some are modest paperbacks tied to particular moments or movements. Others are finely produced editions whose significance lies as much in form as content.
I love books for their ideas, their histories, and the traces left by those who lived with them.
Second Revision is, itself, a second iteration. The foundation comes from a private collection assembled over decades—partly through independent bookstores and estate purchases, and partly through the slow accumulation that comes from returning to the same questions over time.
Certain subjects recur. Certain publishers reappear. Over time, patterns emerged—not as a plan, but as a record of sustained attention.
What appears here is not a library emptied, but one edited: revised, reordered, and returned to circulation with care.
The Collection
Our inventory spans disciplines and decades, unified by selectivity rather than scale. You’ll find first editions and notable later printings; signed and inscribed copies; works of literature and cultural history; books from science, medicine, and psychology; and occasional ephemera or books about books themselves.
Each listing is researched and written individually. Pricing reflects context as much as market comparison. The aim is not comprehensiveness, but judgment.
